8/20/08: I Have the Power!

Just installed my PowerTap SL for my first foray into measuring power output. Training starts up again in earnest next week after a "re-intro" week this week. Been taking it easy since Mt. Evans 5 weeks ago, as is customary with my game plan.

Testing on Monday will most likely be lackluster. But it will serve as a baseline, which is all I care about at this point. Not sure what to expect in using power as the primary performance measurement - will I like it? will I care? - but what I do know is this. The training plan is going to be severely sick between now and next season, so the more objective the measurements of my progress or - more importantly - the lack of progress will be critical to balancing the intense training with the recovery periods.

We'll see how it all goes. Stay tuned for periodic updates throughout the off-season.

Train safe,
Nate
